I made an 8-hour detour, and all I got were these yearbook photos.
/Driving to Akwesasne took me two days, a full 15–20 hours.
Part of that was because of my choice to stop in Pittsburgh on the first night, instead of taking the Google Maps suggested route through Philly and Jersey. My father went to Robert Morris University, about 30 minutes outside of the city.
The library didn’t open until 1 p.m. on Monday. That left me, a slow-moving, curious procrastinator, leaving for my trip to Akwesasne—an 8-hour drive—around 5 p.m. after I dug through the school's yearbooks and newspapers.
I will say, it was worth it.
